Uninstall and re-add Hama camera
Data protection is a clear priority, especially in smart homes. If the Wi-Fi camera is connected to another network, all data must be deleted correctly beforehand. You can find out how to do this here.
At a glance: Removing a Hama camera
- A smart home device can only be connected to one account at a time – but a Wi-Fi camera, for example, can be removed from one network and integrated into a new one
- Caution: Since a Wi-Fi camera stores sensitive data, this must be deleted before removal to prevent unauthorised access – i.e. delete from the cloud or remove the SD card
- You need the account details of the previous owner: The camera must be completely removed from the previous smart home network, uninstalled and reset
- 4-step guide: How to properly uninstall Hama smart home cameras and securely delete all data
- Especially when selling second-hand: Make sure in advance that the camera has been correctly removed from the network
Data protection is a priority
If you want to install a Wi-Fi camera in your smart home but have purchased it second-hand, for example, you may receive an error message stating that the camera is linked to an existing account. Important: For data protection reasons, smart cameras cannot be integrated into multiple accounts and/or environments. This is the only way to prevent third parties from accessing your room recordings, etc.
Unfortunately, knowing the relevant login details is not enough to completely remove a Wi-Fi camera from an existing account. The camera must be uninstalled from the previous smart home environment and reset to factory settings via a hardware reset. Only then can you integrate it into a new smart home. This also includes deleting all existing camera data.
We explain step by step how to properly remove a Hama camera from your previous Wi-Fi network, delete all relevant data and reset the camera correctly.
1. Controlling the camera in the existing network
First, you need access to the camera in your existing smart home environment. If the camera has only been superficially removed from the network, please add the device again, i.e. install the camera (again). This is the only way to delete the stored data and ensure that no unauthorised persons can access your personal data and images.
2. Uninstall correctly and delete from account
In the second step, delete the camera from the existing account. To do this, open the Hama Smart Home app, log in to the ‘old’ account and proceed as follows:
- My devices
- Select device
- Properties / Settings
- Delete device
- Disconnect and delete all data
The smart camera can only be reinstalled if this step has been carried out in the previous network – especially in other smart home environments and other user accounts!
3. Perform a hardware reset
Resetting the hardware depends somewhat on the camera or smart home device. In most cases, the reset is performed using a button that must be pressed with a reset pin. The exact location of the reset button can be found in the operating instructions.

Where can I find the user manual?
If you don't have the manual for your smart camera to hand, you can also download it from this page: Go to support.hama.com and enter the item number in the search field (8-digit number). You will find the manual on the item page under Downloads.
4. Integrate into your new smart home
Once the previous data has been deleted and a hardware reset has been performed on the camera, you can add the camera to a new smart home environment as usual, i.e. install and manage it.
If you buy a used smart camera, it is not enough to know the login details for the previous account. Even if you know the email address/username and password, please make sure beforehand that the previous owner has not only uninstalled the camera, but also disconnected the device properly and deleted all stored data.
