Family sharing in Hama Smart Home

There are basically two options for family sharing for the devices in your smart home via the Hama Smart Home app. You can find out what these are here.

At a glance: Family sharing

  • The Hama Smart Home app offers two ways of family sharing
  • So others can also use the smart devices, scenes etc.
  • Set up family and manage rights in three steps
  • Alternative: Share access to your own account
  • We offer advice and help with problems and questions

Option 1: Family sharing

The first way to grant others access to the installed Hama Smart Home products is to create and manage a family within the app. This is particularly interesting if you want to restrict the authorizations of individual persons so that they do not play around with the heating controller, for example.

  Note

All users need their own account and, of course, the Hama Smart Home app. This allows each user to control all smart home devices independently. Members of the "app family" can also use created scenes and automations. The advantage of family sharing is that you have more control over who can use which functions.

  Tip

A registered account is required to link the voice control to the app, e.g. via Amazon Alexa, Google Home etc.

Step 1: Create a family

To create a family, first tap on "Profile" in the bottom right-hand corner of the Hama Smart Home app and then on "Family management". The only mandatory entry is a name of your choice; the location and room selection are optional and can also be edited later. Then tap on "Save" to create the family.

Step 2: Define settings

You can now call up the family via "Profile" and manage the following points:

  • Family name
  • Rooms
  • Location
  • Authorizations
  • Family members
  Tip

First define the authorizations for the roles before adding further members. Once you have created the family, you have the "Family owner" role and all administrator rights. You can add and remove family members and ultimately delete the family in the app at any time.

Step 3: Add members

Under "Add members", you can choose how you would like to invite someone to the family, e.g. via WhatsApp. You can also specify which role or access rights each user should have. Then send the invitation using the method of your choice. With this invitation, individual members can now join the family in the Smart Home app.

Option 2: Share account

As an alternative to family management, you can also provide your family with your own access data, i.e. your registered e-mail address with password. This also requires the Hama Smart Home app to be installed on the respective smartphone.

  Note

By sharing the same access, everyone naturally has the same authorizations and access rights for all installed smart devices. In this way, however, it may not be necessary to set up usage rights etc.
