App update: Google Fit / Health Connect connection

For Android apps only: Google has made changes to the data networking of its health apps. This affected the synchronization of data with the apps "Hama FIT Move" and "Hama FIT Pro". We have fixed these problems with the November 2024 update.

At a glance: Synchronization with Google Apps

  • Health data in "Google FIT" can be used until June 2025: The app will then be replaced by "Health Connect"
  • Central data platform: With "Health Connect" you can network your data in several apps
  • In the course of this change, Google has changed data protection settings and app interfaces, which led to error messages in Hama apps
  • Simple problem solution: current update from November 2024 for the "Hama FIT Move" and "Hama FIT Pro" apps, available in the Google Play Store
  • For "Google Fit" users, Google provides instructions on how to easily transfer data to the new "Health Connect" app

The "Health Connect" app replaces "Google Fit"

An important update is pending for the Android version of two of our apps: A newly created interface enables the synchronization of health data with Google Health Connect. This change replaces the previous direct connection to the Google Fit app. This change affects the Hama "FIT Move" app for Android and the Hama "FIT Pro" app for Android.

Although Google Fit is still available until June 30, 2025, it will no longer be usable after this date. In order to make the transition as easy as possible for you as a user, we have already set the course for the future app connection.

Background to the change

Google has restructured the synchronization of fitness and health data. Instead of direct access to the individual apps, a central platform is now used via which various apps can communicate with each other and exchange data. Google has blocked direct access to Google Fit. Unfortunately, this change led to an error message in the previous versions of the Hama apps "FIT Move" and "FIT Pro".

Solution by updating the Hama app

We have now been able to resolve these problems with an update for our Android apps. By updating to the latest version of the Hama Smartwatch apps

since November 15, 2024, the app has been working without restrictions. In older app versions, a pop-up message indicates the available update. We recommend updating to the latest app version. Use the links above to go directly to the Play Store and update to the latest version from there.

  Tip

If you have activated the automatic app update on your Android device, the app has probably already been successfully updated in the background. We generally recommend activating this function.

Data transfer from Google Fit to Health Connect

If you have synchronized your data with "Google Fit" and want to keep it, you can easily transfer it to "Health Connect". All you need to do is migrate the data once. Google explains how this works in just a few steps on this page.
