Why can't I use my mouse any more on my new laptop?

This may be due to a low battery. Change the batteries. Another reason could be a wrong driver. You can check this in the device manager. If you can exclude both possibilities, the mouse or receiver is possibly defective. Exchange the mouse in this case.
