With the "Canon EOS/FD" lens adapter you can connect Canon FD, AE and FL lenses to the Canon EOS SLR camera body. The adapter is attached to the camera body like a lens. Afterwards, the manual lens is mounted. As autofocus distance settings cannot be made on FD/AE/F lenses, only manual focusing is possible.
The adapter has an adjustable ring with the designations "LOCK - OPEN".
If the ring is set to position "LOCK", the aperture is fully open, no matter which f-number has been adjusted on the lens.
If the ring is set to position "OPEN", the working aperture selected on the aperture ring of the lens is adjusted.
Please not that - due to the modified back focal distance - the focal depth of the lens is extended by the factor 1.2.
Due to technical reasons it is not possible to use very fast lenses with full aperture opening. From a f-number of 1:3.5 on, optimum results are achieved.
